NIGHTSTOP

New Forest Nightstop is part of the national registered charity, Nightstop UK, and provides emergency overnight accommodation for homeless 16 - 25 year olds in the homes of trained and approved host households around the New Forest. A young person refers themselves to a local agency who will then make a referral to Nightstop: Many local agencies are participating in the scheme: Social Services, Benefits Agency, Citizens' Advice, Job Centres, Police, Council Housing Needs Team, Youth Service/Youth Drop-In, Connexions, Church organisations, Samaritans, Housing Projects, Colleges, Schools and Drugs Advisory Services.

A young person is able to stay one or two nights in a Nightstop household while receiving further advice from their housing advice worker. After their Nightstop stay, they return to their housing advisor who gives them other options. Nightstop is not a permanent solution to youth homelessness, but it gives a young person a breathing space to consider their situation.

Nightstop does not take referrals directly from young people, but any organisation requiring more information

please e-mail Sue Roberts at: nightstop@nfvsc.org.
